Kat Von D - Rehab Priming Elixir: This Elixir is oil and fragrance free (Although it does have a very faint smell of rose to it.) and formulated without Parabens. It is a water based formula and can be used on all skin types.
What it is: It is a long lasting makeup primer and prepares skin for easy makeup application.
What it does (quoted from sephora): "Kat calls this her "black rose primer detox." It provides mattifying
properties, evens out the complexion, and nourishes skin to create the
perfect canvas for applying makeup and extending its wear. The extract
of rose provides potent hydrating properties. A blend of natural fruit
and botanical extracts soothes and hydrates skin. This product also
protects skin against environmental damage and premature aging."
I was recently on holiday in the US, so I went into a few Sephora stores to purchase the Kat Von D products (as they are not sold in the UK ), but could not find the primer which I was gutted about as this product was the main one I wanted. So when I got back to the UK I searched everywhere and finally found it online from a UK seller. It cost me £33 including postage.
I never wear primers as most primers I've tried dry my skin out and just make my skin feel horrid. I wanted to try this one as it's water based. It is described as having mattifying properties which was the only thing putting me off this as I have very dry skin around my nose, but as it's water based I thought I'd give it a go!
I have been using this for about a week now, I first tried it underneth the Kat Von D lock it foundation. I use 2 pumps (as it's a pump not the dipper) which I then put all over the face missing the eye area. It takes a few seconds to absorb into the skin and leaves a lovely soft healthy finish. It is alot like a moisturiser which is what I love about it. The primer feels lightweight, refreshing and has a nice cooling effect on the skin when applied. I then apply the foundation over the top, when this is fully applied you get a very smooth, slightly dewy finish (when using the Lock it Foundation over the top). It does advise that you could use this at night, under a night cream for anti ageing benefits, I wouldn't personally use this at night though.

Overall this primer has definately got the thumbs up from me and I would purchase again. I use this primer with all of my foundations and it works amazingly with them all! I had douts about this, thinking it would dry my skin out but it does the opposite and makes it very hydrated for most of the day.
If you want your makeup to last, whilst feeling refreshed with a natural glow this is the primer for you!
Pros
- Good for dry/combination skin
- A little goes a long way
- Helps keep the foundation in place for most of the day
- Can be used with any foundation
- Leaves a refreshing feel to the skin
Sephora discontinued this primer which is my favorite! Just found it on wonderland la.com.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know why it was discontinued from Sephora?Seems like it is a great product with good reviews... I just looked on wonderlandla.com and its not there now either. Any other ideas on where I can find the rehab priming elixir now?
